About Us

Northside is a Bible based church where families worship together in Spirit and in Truth. We endeavor to please God with our praise and worship and edify the Body of Christ with the teachings of God’s Holy Word. Below is a brief description of our history and our beliefs. You can read more about us in the FAQs.

Our History
Northside was founded in 1965 by a handful of North Atlanta families. This fledgling church made its sactuary in a local school until the congregation was able to purchase the property at its current home on Roswell Road just at the border of Marietta and Roswell. The church then met in the house purchased with the property until construction was completed on the current santuary. Since its beginning, Northside has been a family friendly church with a love for the Truth and a passion for people.

Our Beliefs
Northside is a Progressive Primitive Baptist congregation. The Primitive Baptists hold to the doctrines held by the original Baptist pilgrims from Europe, primarily England. To this end we hold to the original 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith as summarized in our Articles of Faith below.

Articles of Faith

  • We believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust; that the just shall be raised, changed, and fashioned like unto the glorious body of the Son of God, to dwell in heaven forever, soul and body reunited; and, that the unjust shall be raised, soul and body reunited, and consigned to punishment in hell.
  • We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God, inspired and inerrant, and the only rule of faith and practice.
  • We believe in the only true and living God, that there are three persons in the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and that these three agree in one, are coequal, coeternal, and coexistent.
  • We believe in the total depravity of the entire human family; that is, sin pollutes mans faculties – his heart, mind, and will – and he is unable to recover himself from this lost and ruined estate.
  • We believe in particular, eternal, and unconditional election, the effectual calling of the elect, and the final perseverance of the saints.
  • We believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God, the only Savior and Redeemer, and that salvation is by His grace alone.
  • We believe that believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only ordinances of the church of Jesus Christ. We believe the only baptism taught and recognized in the Bible is immersion. We believe the Lord’s SUpper is a memorial of our Lord’s death and should be regularly observed in the church.
  • We believe that no minister has the right to administer the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper but such as are called by God and come under the imposition of hands by a presbytery.

Our Positions

In order to establish a clear and undisputed position on certain social matters, Northside Primitive Baptist Church has affirmed the following position statements.  These statements are intended to provide a concise view of the Biblical precedent. We pray that anyone we may minister to will be treated with dignity and respect despite any differences of opinion or worldview.  We have all fallen short of the glory of God and are in equal measure in need of the grace of God.

Marriage & Sexuality

  • We affirm that marriage is an institution established by God for the purpose of fellowship, communion, and worship in intimate unity between a man and a woman for life.  Furthermore, as an instrument of procreation, marriage is the ideal foundation for a family having a father and mother. Therefore, marriage between a man and a woman should be upheld, supported, and protected by the Church, the Government, and society at large.
  • Attempts to undermine the Biblical precedent never end well, and marriage is no exception. Extramarital heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality are outside the pattern established by God and are sin. As the pillar and ground of the truth in the earth, the church should not support the furtherance of any depravity or sin including these sexual sins. The church body should not aid these ideas either personally or collectively, or allow church resources to be used in their support.

See Genesis 2:18-24, Mark 10:6-9, Matthew 19:4-6, Romans 1:24-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, and 1 Timothy 3:14-15.

Sanctity of Life

  • We affirm the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.  This life is particularly precious no matter the age or state, and the church should support families and social institutions to protect and uphold children born and unborn and the aged.  In fact, this is the purpose of religion to care for widows, orphans, and those that cannot protect themselves. Doing otherwise is sin and must be repented.
  • The Lord said we are created in the image of God. Therefore, we should treat one another with dignity and respect at all times. Love of God and love of neighbors is the hallmark of true Christianity. This calling requires that we love the unlovable and help the helpless.

See Exodus 13:2, Exodus 21:22, Isaiah 10:1-2, Malachi 3:5, Matthew 22:37-40, Luke 9:48, and James 1:27.
